It was 10 years ago November 1st that my 38" hair was cut off, the auction of the collection began, and we said started our goodbyes to the Church building that we had, with great love and care, turned into a studio, home and gallery. It was fun to run across these pictures recently when gathering images for a project.
Well, after many years lurking in the corner, Madame Irma is finally finished and ready to make her entrance in a proper way. She is to be paired with Galactic Syzygy - the Cello assemblage that I created for the Denver Young Artist Orchestra's Painted Violin program, which is touring through next Spring.
The next gallery on the tour invited the 17 artists to send along a wall work, and it was fun to finish up Irma for the occasion. I have not had a signed work for show and sale since the complete divestment of my inventory in 2001! She is 48 x 24 plus frame. Acrylic, gilt, Austrian and German Crystal on panel.
I realize that I have stopped posting here, have stopped leaving comments on friends blogs, have been so consumed with my own dramas that I am being taken the wrong direction, and dragged in to the muck. I need to treasure the good things happening and the glimmers of a bright future that are emerging.
That said, this past week it pictures:
I was fortunate to work on a retired Cello rather than a Violin. Here is a look at some progression and details.
I affectionately called this project
"Chewing on a Cello"
The official title finished is Galactic Syzygy
The Collection from 17 Artists will be shown in many different venues through next Spring, when the altered instruments will be auctioned off to raise money for the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. There are some amazing pieces in the show. Worth seeing it at one of the venues.
Part of Alicia's fabulous Big Draw Little Draw project. These are 6 inch magnets that were "distributed" throughout the streets of Denver by the Magnet Mafia. If you find one, there are instructions on the back. http://www.abecedariangallery.com/
Ok, I am experimenting to figure out if I could start doing some video postings on this blog, rather than starting a different channel just for video...
